020 - Avoid Being Ripped Off (in Venice and other places)
After a weekend in Venice, Craig and Linda pass on some of the not-so-nice experiences and how to avoid them. Our rules to help avoid being ripped off in heavily touristed areas, like Venice.
- Rule one: Assume nothing
- Rule two: Check for hidden costs - by asking outright
- Rule three: Remember rule number one
- Rule four: Make a local friend and follow their lead
This post isn’t about saving money or begrudging paying for an experience, but when you pay much more than you expected it can put a negative edge on your travel experience. This post’s about staying alert so you pay what you expect to. Money lost can’t be spent elsewhere.
